"Wonderful! Oh...well, I know a place in Goldenrod and a place in Ecruteak!"
And a few more, but Rose thinks those are the closest to get to. They have a time limit, after all.
"It's going to be very nice not going to prom alone. I know it doesn't really matter, but it's...it's nice, to have a companion." She doesn't like being alone for long stretches of time, and she'd gotten very used to having A Someone. While she hadn't invited JW to join her for that, she's grown very fond of him. Living in close quarters like this, sharing the days and nights....
"A companion, yeah!" JW nodded a little quickly, shoving thoughts to the corners of his mind. Don't read into it, Jim. he told himself. "We are that. Companions."
A weird smile crossed his face and he tried to tame it down into his usual tired expression. But he couldn't. It was spring and it was doing things to him. He rubbed his face and stood up from the log, bowing his back and popping it loudly.
"Oh, oof. Big oof. These bones. Rose, I'm old. I'm so old."
Rose's experience is...unique and non-traditional. As far as relationships, she's really only had the one real one. Oh, she'd had more humans than she could count on a casual level. Brief flings, single nights, that sort of thing. It wasn't as if she'd really been able to have relationships with them.
Then Greg came along and changed everything.
But she thinks she knows what she's doing. Greg had been very patient, and helped her understand so much about humans connect and care for each other. Now that she is human, she understands even more.
He swatted a hand in her direction. "Maybe you've been in existence longer than Earth, but until your back pops in four places when you stand up, you're not old. Old is different!"
He grinned at her like a fox. She was fun to banter with. It made his ears hot. He laughs too and sucks in a lungful of spring air.
"We should start packing up if we want to make it to town."
"I'm too soft to pop!" Even after all this time, Rose doesn't have the best grasp of human biology.
"But you're right, we should." She stands and whistles for the Pokemon, allowed to wander free and roam where they will around the caravan. They'll be very helpful in packing up.
JW also whistles for his own Pokemon through the gap in his teeth. They rarely wandered far--save for Skipper who was still stubborn and very independent. Until he learned to come when called, he stayed in his ball.
Beach Ball came rolling around the wagon and Queenie came trotting up with sticks and dirt all stuck in her coat. Psyduck pokes her head out of a bush and comes waddling back with several berries in her paws.
JW swivels his head and does a mental count. "That's everyone for today. Listen up, if you can behave yourselves, we're going to go shopping. You want to look nice for Prom. Which is where we're going. Together."
All of them together, not just JW and Rose. It was normal! Normal!
Rose is already starting to put things away as Brayda and King Crimson trot up to take their places at the front of the massive wagon.
"Oh, I'll have to get Doofy's little tuxedo cleaned. He loves wearing his little tuxedo to prom." It was the only time he changed out of his superhero cape. Aside from Halloween, of course.
JW calls his various Pokemon inside their balls because suddenly he feels hot and itchy and doesn't want so many eyes on him. He hitches the balls to his belt and pats King Crimson on the side before moving around to the door.
"I'll bet he's handsome. Psyduck's got a bow she likes...maybe I ought to spoil her a little. We've been getting along better."
An adorable idea, as far as Rose is concerned. How cute it would be! She's practically buoyant as she goes to hitch up the Mudsdales properly. And really, anything to encourage JW and his Psyduck to get along better.
JW had meant to swing up and into the wagon by grabbing the strong beam that flanked the door but he ended up pushing off with his foot too hard and smacking his forehead right on the upper support beam.
"Dates?" It came out as a squawk but he quickly smoothed out his feathers. Cool, he was cool. She probably didn't mean it like that. This was Rose. She just says things. "Dates, haha yeah!"

It's felt good, having him here.

When JW stands she laughs. She can't help it.
"You're old? I'm older than your planet!"

Well, some of them will.

"He picked it out himself."
